Blood Orange Smoothie With Grapes and Red Quinoa




Ingredients

    ⅓ cup cooked red quinoa
    1 cup red seedless grapes, preferably frozen (6 ounces)
    1 cup blood orange juice (or regular orange juice if blood oranges are not available)
    1 teaspoon pomegranate molasses
    2 tablespoons soaked cashews
    Small handful of kale

Preparation

    Place all of the ingredients in the jar of a blender and blend at high speed until smooth. Serve right away.

Strawberry and Almond Smoothie




Ingredients

    1 heaped cup (7 ounces / 200 grams) quartered hulled strawberries
    1 tablespoon almond powder (also known as almond flour) or finely ground almonds (6 1/2 grams)
    1 drop almond extract
    ½ ripe banana
    1 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon honey

Preparation

    Place all of the ingredients in a blender, with ice cubes if desired, and blend at high speed until smooth.

Pineapple and Millet Smoothie



Ingredients

    ¼ cup, tightly packed, cooked millet
    1 ½ cups fresh sweet pineapple (7 ounces)
    ½ cup fresh orange juice
    1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
    1 teaspoon agave nectar
    1 tablespoon soaked cashews or almonds (optional) (.5 ounce)
    2 ice cubes


Preparation

    Place all of the ingredients in the jar of a blender and blend at high speed until smooth. Serve right away.

Mango Buttermilk Smoothie



Ingredients

    1 heaped cup fresh or frozen ripe mango
    1 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon honey
    ½ medium size ripe banana
    4 frozen strawberries
    2 or 3 ice cubes

Preparation

    Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, and blend at high speed until smooth.

Berry and Rose Geranium Smoothie




Fragrant rose geranium is very easy to grow in pots, and a little goes a long way. I use it to make a syrup that I add to just about anything I make with berries.

1/2 cup blueberries

1/2 cup raspberries

3/4 cup hulled strawberries

2 to 3 tablespoons rose geranium syrup (see below)

4 ice cubes

1. Place all of the ingredients in the blender. Blend until frothy, about one minute. Serve at once.

Yield: One serving.

Rose Geranium Syrup

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

2 sprigs rose geranium

Combine the sugar and water, and bring a to a boil. Reduce the heat, and simmer three to five minutes until slightly thick. Add the rose geranium sprigs to the pot, turn off the heat and cover tightly. Allow the rose geranium to steep for 15 minutes. Strain into a jar, and place in the refrigerator. The syrup will keep for about a week.

Pineapple-Basil Smoothie




Ingredients

    ¼ cup, tightly packed, basil leaves
    ¼ ripe pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into chunks (about 6 ounces)
    ¾ cup plain kefir or yogurt
    1 teaspoon honey
    1 heaped tablespoon pistachios
    ½ teaspoon chia seeds
    2 or 3 ice cubes

Preparation

    Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend at high speed for 1 minute, or until smooth. Serve.

Peach Vanilla Smoothie




Ingredients

    1 large or 1 1/2 medium ripe peaches, white or yellow, pitted about 6 ounces
    ⅓ cup granola
    ⅔ cup almond milk
    ⅛ teaspoon almond extract
    ½ to ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract (to taste)
    2 teaspoons rose geranium syrup (see recipe)
    A few drops of fresh lemon juice (to taste)
    3 ice cubes

Preparation

    Place all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend until frothy, about one minute.

Oats Smoothie



Oats smoothie is one of the wonderful n diet recipes by my sis in law!!

Ingredients:

Oats                       4 tbsp
Yogurt                   4 tbsp
Honey                   To taste
Dry fruit                1/2 tbsp (Crushed)
Any fruit                1/2 cup (e.g. Banana/Apple/Strawberry)
Milk                       4 tbsp

Procedure:

Blend all the above ingredients in the blender and pour into the glass. Sprinkle some nuts/chopped fruits on top & enjoy the wonderful smoothie!!

Strawberry Smoothie


Ingredients (Per 16-ounce smoothie)
8 ounces (1 cup) unsweetened coconut milk
6 ounces frozen strawberries
3 ounces frozen bluberries
3/4 ounce fresh spinach
1 tablespoon agave nectar (or to taste)

1. To make the strawberry smoothie, add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

2. Pour smoothie into glass and garnish with some fresh berries or mint, if desired.

Strawberry and Banana Smoothie



Ingredients

    1 banana
    8 strawberries
    3 tablespoons yogurt

Instructions

 Put the banana in freezer for 15 minutes, then cut into small pieces.
 Cut the strawberries into small piecea.
 Put all the ingredients in the blender or food processor to blend well. You can also add some honey    to make to sweeter.
